Hi. 👋 I’m Jeremy Bassetti. Join ARTIFACT INTERNATIONAL — a community of globally-minded writers, photographers, and creators. Let’s create artifacts together.
Members are a part of a global community of creators interested in making artifacts — records of their experiences. Members get access to a special area in our community Discord server, discounts on my special-edition books and prints, a members-only media library, and more.
ARTIFACT INT’L is made up of members who are interested in helping each other fulfill their creative visions. Through our Discord server, we provide a supportive environment that allows members to share their ideas, receive feedback, and connect with like-minded individuals. Our mission is to empower creatives to work on interesting projects.
The membership community also provides the financial backbone for my work, most of which is freely-available like podcast interviews with photographers and authors, newsletters, YouTube videos, essays, and much more. The most important thing I create, however, is the book-shaped artifact; with your support, I hope to create one every 12 to 18 months.
The benefits of ARTIFACT INT’L membership
In addition to helping keep most of what we create free for others, members receive the following exclusive benefits for their support.
- Discounts on special-edition books and prints
- Named as a “sustaining member” or “supporting member” (depending on membership level) in ARTIFACT INT’L publications (members current at time of publication)
- Invitations to attend ARTIFACT INT’L “office hours” livestreams
- Members-only media library
- ARTIFACT INT’L community Discord server
- And more perks added from time to time
Paying it forward
One of the best parts of joining ARTIFACT INT’L is that, besides all the benefits above, members support the creation of a host of projects that are freely available to everyone, including

Who are you?
Hi, I’m Jeremy Bassetti. The easiest way to learn about me is to browse my personal website. Though, in a nutshell, I am a writer, photographer, professor, and interviewer who is deeply interested in the intersection of movement and creativity.
Why should I support you?
As William Deresiewicz details in his book The Death of the Artist,1 artists and creative entrepreneurs are having a difficult time making a living from their work nowadays despite the great lie we are told by Silicon Valley and the media: “there has never been a better time to be an artist.” Deresiewicz concludes that the best thing someone can do to support artists and creators is to support artists and creators. That is, if we care about the arts at all, we need to invest in the arts economy as “consumers.”
Your financial support helps support an extended universe of material related to travel and creativity: essays, photography, special edition books, podcasts, interviews, newsletters, and more. Your help keeps most of this work ad-free and freely available to all. In other words, your support helps me clear my schedule, affording me the time and space to do creative work. If the idea of supporting the work of an independent creator interests you, please consider joining our community as a monthly or yearly member. Thank you!
Is my financial information secure?
Yep! Industry-standard payment processing platforms handle and encrypt all payments.
Why not just use Patreon or something similar?
I’ve used Patreon and other services in the past. But hosting the membership program on my own website circumvents these costly middlemen.2 Moreover, platforms like Patreon and Substack are OPP — other people’s platforms — that I have little control over; hosting the membership program on my site allows me to have full control and offer more robust benefits to members.3
Can I pause, cancel, or upgrade my membership?
Yes. Fiddling with your membership is easy. Visit visit the member zone.
I am a student/I can’t afford a membership, do you offer discounts or scholarships?
I don’t want financial issues to get in the way of someone benefitting from this community. To that end, we offer “scholarships” for those with low income. If you cannot afford a membership, please email me, jeremy [@artifactinternational.com], with a short statement about yourself and what you’d like to get out of the community. Our annual scholarships have many of the same benefits as a paid annual membership but without some of the discounts, etc.
How can I support you without becoming an ARTIFACT INT’L member?
There are a few ways you can support me without becoming an ARTIFACT INTERNATIONAL member. Firstly, you can purchase my books and leave positive reviews where you bought them. Secondly, you can support me (for free) by subscribing to the Travel Writing World Podcast or leaving a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts, subscribing to one of my newsletter, and following me on social media (my links). And, sharing my podcast episodes, newsletters, and articles with your friends on social media is very helpful.
- I highly recommend you read this book if you want to catch a glimpse of the dismal world of the artist and creative entrepreneur in the early 21st century. BTW: This link, like most links on this site, are affiliate links. This means that, at no additional cost to you, I’ll get a small percentage of the sale if you purchase something using this link.
- At the time of writing, the fees range from 8% to 10% and inclusive of standard credit card processing fees of around 3.5%.
- And it saves me from a Muskonian meltdown.
